AUTISM SPECTRUM SUPPORT GROUP ANNOUNCEMENT

Dear Members,

We hope you had a safe, happy holiday with your family.

We are very excited to inform you that recently elected Cobb County School Board Representative, Dr. John Crooks, has graciously accepted our invitation to attend both our morning and evening meetings in January.  These meetings will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2007.  Because we expect a larger group than usual, we will be meeting in the Chancel Choir Room, A18 instead of where we usually meet.  This will be for both the morning and evening meetings.  Please mark this date on your calendar and make plans to attend!

Dr. Crooks was elected from Post 6 in Cobb County, but he will be making educational decisions that affect the entire county.  Dr. Crooks has stated that he is especially interested in meeting with us because he wants to learn more about special education and the challenges that our children face.

We have had some responses from the Autism Support Group which have been incorporated into a general presentation of information and handouts will be made available for attendees.  Many of the issues apply not only to children on the Autism Spectrum but other disabilities too.

Our meetings with Dr. Crooks  provide us with an outstanding opportunity to  cultivate a special education advocate for our children.  To that end, we need a great turnout for this meeting.  Please make plans to attend, and please invite other parents of special children to come with you!
